A friend of mine wrote a post on Facebook about a yummy tasting smoothie that she made and she used a soy eggnog.  I must admit, the kids and I enjoy a good glass of eggnog every year about this time so it got me thinking about trying a healthy eggnog recipe.

I found this recipe and had to give it a try.  It was delicious!  Definitely tastes like a good holiday drink!

This was the first batch I made and after a few snapshots, they insisted I make another batch and this time quadruple the recipe so they could each have their own glass! 😀

Healthy Eggnog Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vanilla flavored unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
  • 3 Tbsp French Vanilla Nutrimeal (or other high-quality protein powder)
  • 1 Tbs 100% pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup ice (or more for a milkshake quality)

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a blender.  Blend until smooth.  Serve immediately and enjoy! It is that simple!

Trust me, you will not be disappointed with this protein shake! Make it for your next holiday gathering and you will definitely impress your guests.

Don’t forget to pin this recipe and save it for later so you can make it all year long!

*Update: I have made this recipe several times since the original post and have made it with several different brands of protein powder. Let me tell you the quality of the protein matters immensely!

Also, depending on the protein powder you go with you might have to adjust the sweetness by adding a little more maple syrup or even leaving it out completely. You might need to add a little more vanilla too because I have found some of them don’t have much vanilla flavor at all.

  1. I love Chai tea eggnog latte at this time of year but it’s obviously not the healthiest treat. I wonder, can your recipe be heated (because of the protein powder, I’m thinking not, but I tend to avoid cold drinks in the winter).

    • That sounds yummy. There is also a chocolate flavored USANA Nutrimeal and I have added it to hot water for hot cocoa so I don’t see why you couldn’t turn this into a hot drink. I have even thought about adding a little pureed pumpkin for a pumpkin flavored eggnog. This would be an easy recipe to make adaptions to!
