I really enjoy sushi & 3 out of my 5 kids like sushi also, although I’m not sure I can count the 10-month-old. 😉 Sushi can be spendy & for me at least it is too time-consuming to make. That is why I love this deconstructed Sushi Bowl!

There are many benefits to making sushi this way.

  1. Easy

2. Takes less time to make

3. Smaller bite sizes, making it easier to eat for little mouths

4. Easier to sub in brown rice

5. Customizable

6. You don’t have to be so precise with you knife cuts

7. My favorite, you still get all of the great flavors of sushi.

I also like to turn my sushi bowl into more of a sushi salad so I add lots of greens but that is completely optional.

Mouthwatering Sushi Bowl

Sushi Bowl Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked brown rice
  • 1 English cucumber, diced or cut into “matchstick” size
  • 1-2 carrots, diced or cut into “matchstick” size
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 4 seaweed sheets, cut into strips
  • Salmon, crab meat or shrimp, etc.
  • mixed greens (optional)
  • bean sprouts (optional)

Wasabi Dressing Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp wasabi paste (sriracha would be good too)
  • 2 Tbsp tamari or liquid aminos
  • 1/2 c. rice wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger

Directions

Whisk all of the dressing ingredients together until mixed well. Most of this recipe is just prepping the vegetables. Once you have them all prepped you combine all of the ingredients and toss with the dressing.

You can cut the veggies as fancy as you would like 😀 .

The only note I would add is about the salmon. I just broiled some salmon with lemons and herbs but you can even use canned salmon, boiled shrimp, crab meat, some seared Ahi tuna would be nice too. Or make it vegetarian.

I really like bean sprouts on mine or any kind of sprout really. Unfortunately, I had my sprouts stored in the back of the fridge and when I got them out to put on my salad they were frozen. I was so bummed! One nice thing about making your own sprouts is they are really cheap so not too much was wasted at least.

This salad is great to add to your “Best Diet for Belly Fat” for the following reasons:

  1. The cucumber helps reduce bloating.

2. Complex carbs & prebiotics are in the brown rice.

3. The avocado is a healthy fat.

4. And the salmon is a great source of protein & vitamin D, which is great to manage stress relief.

Don’t keep this delicious recipe to yourself. Forward to your friends and/or share on social media so we can all dig in a feel nourished!

  5. I’ve heard a lot about Wasabi on several cooking shows. But, I must confess I’ve never tried it. However, I ‘m definitely up for the salmon sushi bowl. I may be missing out on the rich flavor of the Wasabi, so maybe I can get my sushi friends to convince me.

    • 😀 I really like wasabi, if you have never had wasabi I would probably use a little less than what the recipe calls for because it is a strong flavor.
