Maybe they were on sale and you got a little carried away or you had a plan to use them and life got in the way.

Storing avocados, let’s start with how to keep them fresh longer.
- Store avocados in the fridge instead of the counter and it will ripen slower.
If you have cut your avocado already and don’t use all of it take some saran wrap and wrap up the avocado, the trick is to make sure the saran-wrap is touching every exposed piece of flesh. That way the air doesn’t reach the flesh, turning it brown. This way it can last a little longer in the fridge cut up also.
Same goes for leftover guacamole. Just make sure the saran-wrap is touching all of the exposed parts of the guacamole.
- Have you tried something like this Guac-Lock Container? I’ve never tried something like this before. If it really takes all of the air out of the container I can see how/why it would work. It has decent reviews also if it is something you want to try.
Next, if you want to use them fresh and don’t know what to do with them here are some ideas that might help.
Throw some into a green smoothie. Depending on what you are using it for you will adjust how much you add.
To replace a healthy fat in a smoothie I would put in about a quarter of an avocado instead of coconut oil, chia seeds, flax seeds, etc.
You can also use it instead of a banana in your smoothie. If that is the case I would add 1/2 of an avocado.
Add some into a soup.
Some soups will taste yummy with the avocado cut into chunks and added as is or…
if you want to use it to thicken the soup or make it creamy just mash it up and add it that way.
Spread some on toast. So yummy! Get the recipe for Egg & Avocado Toast.
Use it as a garnish to any dish really, especially if you love avocado as much as I do it will taste delightful!
Make a body scrub out of it. I got this recipe out of a Redbook magazine and it is amazing.
In a bowl combine: 1 mashed up ripe avocado, 1 Tablespoon each of extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, & honey.
Donna Steinmann, founder of the organic body-care line, Medicine Mama’s Apothecary said, “Avocado, olive oil, and honey are all super-hydrating, and sea salt can help soothe chronic skin conditions like eczema.”
Storing avocados in the freezer: Did you know that you can freeze any leftover avocados also! Here is how:
Put the mix into freezer bags, removing as much air as possible, and put into the freezer.
To thaw you can place in the refrigerator overnight or to thaw quicker you can put the bag on a plate or in a bowl and run cool to slightly warm water over it until it has thawed.
Make some tasty guacamole and share with your family and friends!
