Happy April Fools Day!!

Happy April Fools Day!!

Are you a prankster?  Do you live for this holiday?

My kids LOVE April Fools and they love to try and trick others and are always disappointed when I don’t try to “trick” them.

This year I decided was the year I would get them.  It took me a while to think of something to do.  I have seen lots of people do food pranks but they are either a little elaborate and time consuming for me or they do things with food that is just gross and wasteful.  I know how lame am I right!!

I found this post on how to make a watermelon cake at Natural Living Mamma and I decided that is what I wanted to do.  It would trick the kids but it would still be tasty and healthy!

This cake was super easy and yummy to make too!

1 whole watermelon
1 pint heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp. honey
Berries or fruit sliced for decoration

Cut off the top and bottom of the watermelon with a chefs knife so you have
two flat ends. Place the watermelon up onto one of the flat ends. With a
chefs knife start peeling the rind away like you might see a professional cut
the rind off of an orange in order to cut the segments out. Don't worry too
much about the roundness of the watermelon, the "frosting" will cover any

In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream and honey until it is nice and fluffy.

Frost your cake with the cream mixture and decorate with your fruit.

Looks great — and I’m sure it was a great surprise!

  • So were they fooled ? More importantly, did they like it???

I don’t think they were completely fooled. They didn’t know it was a watermelon cake, but they knew I had a trick up my sleeve. It was really tasty though and we all enjoyed it.
